Ford‘s Fiesty Fiesta ST200 Lands In South Africa.

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show last year the lonig awaited pocket rocket has finally hits South African soil.

With a specially calibrated 1.6 liter EcoBoost petrol engine which now develops 200hp,(147kW’s) hence the name ST200, and 290 N.m of torque. That’s 13 kW’s more and 50 N.m of torque more to make this ST200 a little more feisty. The Ford Fiesta ST200 can deliver a further 11 kWs and 30 N.m of torque for up to 15 seconds using transient over boost. With all that together the ST200 does a 0 – 100km/h sprint in 6.7 seconds which is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard Fiesta ST and gains 7 km/h on the top end for a top speed of 230km/h.

To compliment the improvement in power the ST200 under the skin has:

– Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control and 3 mode Electronic Stability Control.

– A specially modified front steering knuckle.

– An adapted rear twist-beam with increased roll stiffness.

– Unique front and rear spring and damper settings with a 15 mm lower center of gravity.

– Sharper 13.69:1 steering ratio and shortened steering arm

Exterior wise the ST200 comes in an exclusive Storm Grey exterior, machined black alloy wheels, LED tail lights, ST200 badges, and red painted brake calipers so it won’t be that hard to miss that this particular model is pretty special.

Inside you’re greeted by unique partial leather Charcoal Recaro Front seats with silver stitching, alongside illuminated scuff plates and seatbelts with silver detailing. Just like the standard ST the ST200 comes with seven airbags, climate control, Ford MyKey, remote central locking with keyless entry and start and Ford’s SYNC® with Bluetooth and Voice control.

South Africa will be receiving 160 of these pocket rockets and will set you back R339 900, that’s only R14000 more than the standard ST, with this much improvements at that cost it looks like a proper buy.
