McLaren’s entry level supercar has introduced its Spider variant for the 570S for the open-top driving enthusiasts.
It features a two-piece retractable hardtop made from lightweight composite panels similar to the 650S & 675LT Spiders. The roof can open and close in 15 seconds and can be opened at speeds of up to 40 km/h. Similar to the 570S Coupe the spider uses a rigid carbon fiber MonoCell II construction and features dihedral doors. Due to the change in body shape, it has gained 46 kgs and a rear spoiler that has been extended by 12 mm.
The McLaren 570S is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter V8 with a class leading 562hp and 600 N.m of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed gearbox. The 570S is capable of a 0-100 km/h time in 3.2 seconds and goes on to do a top speed of 328 km/h (315 km/h with the roof down).
The Spider is also available in three new colors, Curacao Blue, Vega Blue and Sicilian Yellow. Its official debut will be at this years Goodwood Festival of Speed. Pricing is from $208 000 and first 400 units sold will be launch edition models.
