Audi has spiced things up in their mid-engined sports car model with the release of the R8 RWS (Rear Wheels Series) at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Rear wheel driven means more sideways action, and because its rear driven the Coupe loses 50kg and the Spyder loses 40kg in the process thanks to the deletion of the front drive shaft and center differential. Audi has also reprogrammed the ESC for more controllable drifts. Audi says this beauty gives a sense of an LMS race car for the road.
Based on the standard R8 and not the plus it retains the same 397kW 5.2-litre V10 which is good for a 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds for the Coupe and 3.8 seconds for the Spyder and go on to do a top speed of 320 km/h and 318 km/h respectively.
Priced at €140,000 for the Coupe and €153,000 for the Spyder, Audi will on be building 999 examples in both Coupe and Spyder and if you feeling a bit racing inspired, one can order it with some R8 LMS GT 4 graphics and some buckets seats.
