The French Hyper Car giant has set a new world record with its Bugatti Chiron.
The Bugatti Chiron has accelerated from 0 to 400 km/h and back to 0 in an astonishing 41.96 seconds setting a new world record. So what do you need to break such a record: An 8.0-litre quad turbocharged W16 engine making 1500hp (1,103kW) and 1600 Nm of torque, then couple that with a Haldex AWD system and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, then boom, you have yourself a record breaking car. It took the hyper car 3,112 meters to set the record at VW’s Ehra-Lessien test track.
The Driver that set the record is ex Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya, he wore blue jeans on the record, if I was piloting the Chiron at that speed I would have probably gone for brown pants (I’m pretty sure you guys know why). Bugatti has sold 300 of the 500 Chiron’s it plans to build with a price tag of $3,000,000, the recording breaking model, however, has optional extras worth $500,000 pushing the price up to $3,500,000.
Bugatti will have a crack at the top speed record in 2018, and in an interview with Top Gear Juan Pablo Montoya hopes to be invited for!
